heong kong ah! i know i didnt spell it right. should be Hong Kong. i know la! but that's how it's pronounced eh? ah dont forget the 'ah' with (!) at the back! no la, i'm not posting pics nor writing bout a trip to hk...i didnt go la! however, today, i'm gonna take a short movie marathon of hk films, just to check out what it's all about. well of cos, i've always been a big fan of bruce lee films, then after that...the next best film i liked was prison on fire, 1 and 2...then after that i liked Sha Po Lang(think i've watched this like 5X, the fight scene where donnie uses the baton, damn cool!)...then after that i liked Ip Mun. well, these arent exactly the number of hk films i've watched, of cos i've watched more than that! but as always, cant remember names, titles, faces all that la. terrible habit. oh well, i dunno, i was once told, how can u not watch hk films, how can u not support ur own kind? my own kind? excuse me, firstly what do u mean by 'own kind'? and if i understand what u mean by 'own kind', then my own kind is MALAYSIAN not hk. but i do admit i do have a certain degree of being biased towards hk films, i've always found stephen chow's films a little bit, to put it mildy, silly. well of cos some will say, that's what his films are all about, comedy! but truth be told, i've never really enjoyed hk cinema partially cos of him! of well, we all are critics anyway. so what's lined up for the weekend, or rather for today:
1. IP MAN (again!) i can't wait for the new bruce lee film that's coming out!
2. Legendary Assassin, no idea what this is about.
3. Dragon Tiger Gate, sounds kung fu-ish!
4. Infernal Affairs (i've actually watched this before sometime back, as well as the parts 2 & 3)
5. I. A II
6. I. A III
7. And yes of course, I will attempt to watch, Shaolin Soccer.
I'll give it a go la. But to be frank, it is a pretty good concept though. shaolin and soccer. i BELIEVE, there is a shaolin basketball or kungfu dunk or however it's called. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....yeah of cos we all like jackie chan as well, but then, after a while, the fight scenes become so 'predictable' (?) let's see, there will be the "sit down on the chair, roll over", "crashing down on a glass table", "using a jacket sleeves and wrapping the villains head with it", "sometimes a necktie", "the ladder fights" and of cos him running down some building's wall! yes, these are remarkable feats, i cant do it of cos, but then after a while....
so anyway, last night we went for makan minum again, tg and i. this week was italian, partly cos we couldnt decide what to have. the food was good, filling but the service. tsk tsk tsk. we were politely asked to leave indirectly twice! when the place wasnt even full! oh well, maybe it seems that we both don't look the rich kind la, but then, im paying with cash what. and seems so me that i say this again, what economic crisis? u would expect salesman to try to close deals with u best they can, tip top service from restaurants for fear of declining incomes? think again la. yesterday i went looking for cameras. and with the guarantee of buying from the place with the best deal! out of 5 shops i went, 3 shops tak mau layan, one of them looked at me, looked at ang mo...ang mo better la! in the end they didn't buy anything, padan muka! one more shop went SIGH, when i asked for more info. but then there was one place that was good la. so u know where i'm taking my business to! i even asked the guy, which days are u working? good, i'll come back on that day to buy from u. and i will! of cos, again, i'd be told, u don't look rich ma, u dont' look ang mo ma, aiyah! i always teach my students, never judge a book by its cover! there are some uncles in pg i know, pakai slipper, pagoda t shirt. but in their loose ah pek bermuda pants, he can has wrapped in his plastic bag wallet, RM50 notes, the size of a dictionary, and i mean the Advanced Updated version of the Oxford! so who says that it's already turned back into the consumer's market?!! i'm the kind of consumer, when i walk in, nobody layans, i'll just leave! wouldnt u?
anyways, partially i'm being influenced into exploring the hk cinema scenes cause of tg. cos normally we speak bout hk cinema and im like, aiyoh dunno la bro, never heard of it...a bit paiseh as well la sometimes. so i'm gonna attempt to watch some this weekend. for the sake of friendship la right? even with a certain ex-gf last time pun, i wont watch hk films/tvb with her. and not forgetting my sv, who is an expert in hk cinema as well, so i'm kind of cornered here la! hehehe. speaking of tvb, what's the deal la? all same story line one what! boy meets girl, but of cos, they're mortal/sworn enemies FOR LIFE! BUT in the end get married. and throw in a bit of cake making, company fraud, evil uncles and aunts, police stories, rolls royce here and there. hmmmmmmm...addictive eh? so u wanna know who ur going to get married with? u wanna know who ur life partner is? let me do some fortune reading for u, HK/TVB style. (rubbing chin and thinking deeply) who do u hate most in the world and who hates u the most in the world (non-relatives of cos, and also politicians!). now think opposite sex (exceptions for some)...got a name? got an image? there u have it! so now ur thinking, better be best friends with him/her lah! well there u go! just pack a bit ang pao for me eh?! hehehe
and i guess after reading that list, some will say, WAH SO FREE AH?! well yes i am actually for the weekend. i don't plan to do anything but just chill and relax, ok i was taught this word, CHILLAX! by my younger and more happening friends in uni. see, good to be young! so this weekend, i shall ber-chillax-lah at home. hehehe, might clean up my room as well, aiyah, chillax first la! hehehe. but then, after a few weeks of pulling near 20 hour studying, and finally completing my 80 page report for my confirmation meeting, i think i need to destress and unwind a bit la. my sv said 80 isn't comprehensive enough, my phd friends said, siao ah lu! oh well, i just hope for the best this thursday la. for now, chillax!
"there it is! 80 pages of my proposal!"
"the man of the HK cinema! tiong guan! one of my first friends in melbourne as well! great guy"
"it looks dark cos, it was dark! so let's leave it in that ambiance la! in other words, lazy to edit la"
"this was nice! can't see the mussels, scallops and prawns? hehehe"
"no they didnt sell this there! duck noodles. i made this! not instant noodles ok?! alina said, u made the duck yourself meh? well, yes i did! hehehe, and i made the noodles myself, with all the kung fu moves, grew the veges and made the bowl and chopsticks as well! hehehe...gosh, nick says, looking at ur pics makes me hungry la wei...how true! stomach is rumbling now!"
